家暴 domestic abuse 已經是世界衛生組織 WHO 認定的一個法律專有名詞；其中 domestic /dəˈmɛstɪk/ (adj.) 是「國家或家庭內部的」，abuse /əˈbjus/ 在這裡是名詞，指「生理上的虐待、傷害」。
