慣用語 hit it off 形容兩個人在初次見面時就「一拍即合、相處融洽」，泛指同事、朋友或戀人間的情誼；後面可加上 with someone 補充說明，表示與某人很對盤、很投緣，意思同另一個動詞 click /klɪk/。
這個用法源自中世紀的俚語 hit it，當時候的 hit 有 meet（見面）的意思；hit it 比喻兩人遇見彼此後情投意合、相知相惜。儘管當代英文裡 hit 已不具有 meet 的字義，卻在 hit it off 這個用法裡被保留了下來。
